Last week, when the temps were soaring, we posted about fun ways to serve ice cream at your wedding. Even though this week the temps have kind of dropped to temps unseasonably low for August, we still wanted to share a few more cool wedding treats for a summer wedding. Think beyond ice cream or gelato to some of other fun ways to keep your guests cool with a yummy treat:
Popscicles
You can be as fancy as you want with popsicles and go for gourmet popsicles, popsicles with fruit frozen inside, or even “booze” popsicles are a huge trend right now.

Or you could keep it much simpler and spring for some otter pops, creamsicles, fudgsicles, firecracker pops, or just your basic fruity flavored popsicles! You can even have popsicle stands, a popsicle bar, a cart, or truck, just like with ice-cream!

Slushies or Slurpees
Bring in your own slushie machines. This gives guests a refreshing treat and a couple of flavors to choose from. Or you and your bridal party could just go hit up your closest 7-11 and get some tasty Slurpees!

Snow Cones/Shaved Ice/Granitas (Italian Ices)
Whatever you call it in your neck of the woods, everybody loves a good snow cone/shaved ice/granita/italian ice in the summer. Bring in your own snow cone truck, snow cone making machines, and the key is lots of delicious flavorings. My personal favorite: Tigers Blood. Mmmmm… If you want something a little fancier, a little more sophisticated go for the granites (italian ice).

Watermelon
Nothing goes together better than summertime and fresh fruit, and no fruit fits a summer menu better than watermelon. Whether you pair it with other fruit, use it in a salad, served it as little balls with fancy toothpicks, simply slice it, make it a little more gourmet and serve it with mint sprigs and feta cheese, or create watermelon “popsicles,” watermelon is guaranteed to be a guest pleaser and refreshing treat at your wedding.

Summer weddings and summer wedding treats are so much fun. You can have so much fun with drinks, fruit, sorbets, or use one of the ideas on the blog with with ice cream, popsicles, snow cones, etc. Not only are these ways fun, bright, different ways to keep your guests cool on the hot summer day of your wedding, but they are also delicious and give you and your guest a chance to whimsically think about the days of being a child and bring you back a bit!
