Kim and Josh met on Halloween in 2003 while she was working at a gym in Orlando. Josh was a student at nearby Full Sail University. Kim was dressed as a naughty school girl at work when Josh walked by and was caught staring! He moved on, but returned to the gym about 20 minutes later to introduce himself. By early December they were exclusive! The following year they actually moved to Josh’s hometown of San Diego, CA. They were there for two years before returning to Orlando with the first member of their family, a peekapoo named Rufus. Shortly after, they got Reggie (a scottish terrier).
In February of 2010, Josh went to visit his family in Washington. While he was there, he picked out Kim’s engagement ring with his mother. Their annual Christmas tradition is to give gifts to their families, and then wait until Valentine’s Day to exchange gifts with each other. (What a brilliant idea, by the way!!) Since Josh was away on Valentine’s Day, they celebrated a bit late that year. They were exchanging gifts on the couch when Josh gave Kim a Coach wristlet to match her Coach purse (also a recent gift).
“I looked inside the wristlet and inside was the ring upside down. So I pulled it out to see it and by the time I looked up, Josh was down on one knee. He had some sweet and romantic speech and I was crying. It was sweet and simple like us.”
Kim got her degree earlier this year, which was the reason for their long engagement. She is now working full-time at the Orlando Regional Medical center, so they decided to set their date for Halloween 2013 at Disney’s Shades of Green property!
We decided on historic and beautiful Saint Augustine, FL for their engagement session on November 15th. Mother Nature was only halfway on our side! The cloudy skies were perfect (great for photography), but cool, windy weather & flooded streets…not so much. Kim & Josh were troopers as we walked through our nation’s oldest city. Luckily, the crowds were scarce as a result of the weather. More luck on our side, I suppose!! Everything turned out great, because the resulting images are gorgeous. Can you guess what their wedding colors are?
